Katwe Primary School was created in 1953 by the Buganda government and was taken over in 1967 by Kampala City Council. It is a government-aided school, covering Nursery to Primary school. 289 girls and 238 boys attend the school for a total student body of 527.
Fifteen teachers educate the students in seven classrooms and the school fees are 20,400 shillings ($12) per term for each student. In addition to those fees, Katwe Primary School received 1,980,000 shillings ($1,160) from the government. The school is seeking to upgrade the school buildings, as the existing facilities are very old.
