Islamic University in Uganda | IUIU is a multi-campus university for advanced study at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main campus of the university is located approximately 2 kilometres (1.2 mi), north of the city of Mbale district, in eastern Uganda, on the Mbale-Kimi Road, about 150 miles (240 km) northeast of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city. The university was inaugurated in February 1988 with 80 students. The main objective of the university is to serve the higher education needs of the English-speaking Muslim community in southern and eastern Africa.
Islamic University in Uganda | IUIU currently has four campuses:
The Main Campus is approximately 2 kilometres (1.2 mi), north of the city of Mbale, in eastern Uganda, on the Mbale-Kimi Road.
The Kibuli Campus is on Kibuli Hill, approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) southeast of the central business district in Kampala.
The Kabojja Campus is located in Kabojja, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of Kampala’s central business district. The Kabojja Campus is exclusively females-only.
A total of over 10,000 students have graduated with certificates, Diplomas, Bachelors, Master and PhDs. Admission into Islamic University in Uganda | IUIU is made twice every academic year; in August, at all campuses and in January, only at Kampala Campus. The academic year begins in August and ends in July. Students have the option to enroll for Day, Evening or Weekend Programmes. The Evening and Weekend programmes are tailored for the convenience of employed students who have to keep at their jobs.
There is a wide range of social and cultural activities for students at all our campuses ranging from sports, politics, art and drama organized in a manner befitting the Islamic University. Both the main campus and the Kabojja campus are residential with hostels within the precincts of the campus. The other two campuses are non-residential.
