Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering is one of Uganda’s oldest privately owned Hotel, Catering and Tourism institution that was started by the late Jimmy Sekasi at a rented premise in Kampala. Jimmy Sekasi Institute has been recognized by the National Council Higher Education. Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering is proud for training majority of Uganda’s hoteliers throughout the years.
At Jimmy Sekasi Institute, all students from East, West, Central, Northern and Southern Parts of Africa are accepted at no extra cost. Hence, regardless of the origins of their students, all pay same tuition Fees.

Courses offered: Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering offers both diploma and certificate courses on semester basis for two and one year respectively. Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering courses include Hotel and Restaurant Management, Catering and Events Management, Cake making and decoration, Pastry and baking and recently introduced a diploma in accounting. Other courses include Diploma in Tourism and Travel Management, Diploma in Accounting and Finance, Diploma in Business Management, Certificate in Catering, and a Certificate in Food Production.
History: Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering was established in 1989 as a humble private training Institute by the Late Mr. Jimmy Hannington Sekasi who was murdered in 2001 with 9 students while on a study tour in Murchison falls National Park. It’s one of the oldest and most prestigious catering Institutes in Uganda. In 1987, the institute moved to its current location in Kabalagala, Kampala. Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering expanded over the years to become a highly recognized catering institute offering both certificate and diploma courses in Uganda. To date, the Institute still continues to grow under the leadership of Mrs. Grace Sekasi. The institute is dully registered by the ministry of education and sports under the registration number PSS/J/95.
Admission requirements: At Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering, admission to the programme shall be done in accordance with the National Council for Higher Education and the Institute regulations. A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the programme on meeting any of the following minimum requirements: Candidates must have at least four (4) passes at O
level obtained at the same sitting and at least a Credit Basic (Grade II) certificate in a Food Production or related field from a registered Institution for certificate courses.
Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering admission requirements all the diploma programs include Candidates having at least one principal and two subsidiary passes at A
level obtained at the same sitting, Should have done and passed O’level with at least Four passes at the same sitting, and a Credit certificate in a catering related field from a registered Institution.
Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering admission requirements for degree programs include an applicant having at least three (3) passes at O
level obtained at the same sitting for BCC and it is open for CCS.
Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering also takes an initiative to attach their students for practical training with well established eating places and Hotels around the country and abroad to carry on a three months compulsory training hence equipping them with skills making them ready to start own careers.
