Smaling PEAS High School in Kasingo is part of a cluster of PEAS schools in the West of Uganda, also including Green Shoots Secondary School in Hoima and two PEAS High Schools in Kasese.
Clustering is an excellent way for teachers from our different schools to share best practice, as well as enabling schools to work together on projects and to hold inter-school events such as sports tournaments and debating competitions.
This area was identified by the District Education Officer as being desperately in need of secondary education provision, indeed there are 400 primary school children leaving seven schools with 5km of Samling High School with no where to continue their education.
We hope that Samling High School will help to increase the numbers of girls who attend secondary school in the district, as at the moment in some areas of Kabarole over 80% of girls who complete primary school do not enrol for secondary.
