Kimwanyi Primary School was founded in 1939 by Rev. Silasi Aliwonya of the Church of Uganda as a class of twelve students convening under a coffee tree.
Kimwanyi Primary School has grown to serve a student body of 627 pupils, 422 girls and 205 boys. The fee per student per term 3,000 shillings ($1.75) for lunch and the school received 2,005,000 shillings ($1,180) from the government last year.
[related_posts]The school has a staff of 15 teachers. It faces several challenges, including old classrooms and teacher houses, insufficient funding, too few desks and no food program to feed hungry students. The school also seeks to partner with other schools for help and sharing of ideas.
