Gayaza Junior Primary School celebrated its centennial in 2005. It is an all girls primary school that began as a boarding school for the daughters of Chiefs and other individuals of means or status. It now has 960 students and is staffed by 29 teachers and 58 support personnel.
Admission is no longer based on social influence or position, as the school admits girls from any social or economic standing. Challenges stem from meeting enrollment growth in all aspects from accommodations to staffing and modernizing instructional programs to meet modern demands.
