Butenga Church of Uganda Primary School was started in 1949. It is a government aided school with a total enrollment of 804 pupils (351 boys and 453 girls) ranging from P1 to P7, taught by 14 qualified teachers. The school received funds totaling 2,409,781 shillings ($1,450) in 2007 from the government.
It is well known for its excellence in academic and extra-curricular activities, instilling discipline in its students and promoting freedom of worship to its students.

The school is seeking to link with other schools for an information sharing partnership.
