Atutur Primary School was established in 1945 by Mill Hill Missionaries. It started with only grades 1 and 2 but has subsequently added grades up to grade 7. Currently there are 1,100 students from grade 1 to grade 7, 11 teachers but only 5 permanent classrooms.
Atutur Primary School relies on government grants for its income but these are insufficient. There is a general lack of facilities such as classrooms, teachers’ accommodation, library, sanitation and playgrounds.
