Asinge Primary School is located in Kumi, Eastern Uganda. It was founded by parents from the surrounding community in 2002 as the nearest government school was more than five kilometers away. The parents’ drive and tenacity to make Asinge Primary School a success is evident: they contributed financially, and they even successfully lobbied another local NGO to build four classrooms and an office for the Head Teacher.
Asinge Primary School now has an additional block of three classrooms and a borehole providing safe and clean water for the children to drink and wash their hands with that were a result from a collaboration between Build Africa and Asinge Primary School. The School has come a long way but still needs support in some key areas to ensure that the school continues on the path towards a successful and sustainable future.
There are over 473 children at Asinge Primary School. The fhave less reading materials and most times, its allocated to the younger children. This means those in older classes are not challenged in their learning. There is also no designated space to keep these books safe or for the children to sit quietly to read or study for exams without disturbance

With the sustained support from our donors and fundraisers, the school can continue to change lives by:
• Setting up a library and administration block, a safe space to learn and engaging reading material for all children.
• A block of toilets with a bathroom for the girls so that they can continue to come to school during their periods.
• Ensuring the challenges girls face are understood and addressed by parents and teachers through workshops and training sessions.
• Empowering parents to take responsibility for school development and become actively involved in their children’s education.
