Acumet Primary School was established in the 1940s by the Mill Hill Missionaries. It currently has 546 pupils and 13 teachers. The government grant in the last full year was 2,000,000 shillings ($1,175).
Acumet Primary School is located in an area which has been very badly affected by incursions from the Lord’s Resistance Army, a rebel group which has been engaged in a long-running civil war with the government.
[related_posts]Many local children were abducted and traumatized by their ordeal. An English Brother runs a nearby hostel for 130 girls who managed to escape from the rebels and he provides shelter and counseling for them. He has also helped the primary school with renovations such as the roof.
