Uganda Wildlife Research and Training Institute (UWRTI) is the only middle-level institution that provides high standards and relevant professional and technical training in Wildlife and Tourism Management. We conduct formal training in conservation and sustainable development of wildlife resources and related matters and organize tailor-made courses in conservation and sustainable development of wildlife and natural resource management.
The Institute traces its origin from 1991 under UNDP/FAO project. In 1996, the Government of Uganda formally established UWRTI as an autonomous Institute by an Act of Parliament under the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities to service Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) as the main target of its products.
Accommodation is available for all students at the institute campus; rooms are allocated to students on a first-come first-serve basis. Medical care is provided at the institute sick bay, by a full-time Nurse.
The Institute offers both Certificate and Diploma levels programmes and they include; Certificate and Diploma in Wildlife Tourism Management, and Certificate and Diploma in Wildlife and Natural Resources Management.
