Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology was established in 1965 as the East African Posts and Telecommunications Training Centre. Following the enactment of the Uganda Communications Act, 1997, the training centre was transferred to the Uganda Communications Commission. The Commission changed the name of the centre to Uganda Communications Institute, and later to the present name of Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology. In October 2005, UICT was established as a public tertiary institution by the Ministry of Education and Sports under the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act.

Academics

Diploma programs

Management department: Diploma in Business Administration, Diploma in Human Resource Management, Diploma in Project Planning and Management, Diploma in Records & Archives Management, Diploma in Procurement and Logistics Management and Diploma in Accounting and Finance.

ICT Department takes pride in offering four ICT diploma programs and one certificate program. They are, Diploma in Telecommunications Engineering, Diploma in Computer Technology, Diploma in Information Technology for Science (ITS), Diploma in Information Technology for Business (ITB) and Certificate in Information and Communication Technology.

How to apply: Application forms may be downloaded from the institution’s website and printed out or acquired at the Registrar’s Office, UICT Campus. The completed forms, together with Photostat (hard) copies of result slips and any academic records, must reach the Registrar. Once admitted to the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology, names of successful applicants are registered in the order in which they appear on the support documents submitted with the completed forms for the consideration of admission, unless it is otherwise established by law. (For example in the case of marriage, or an affidavit)
