St. Charles Lwanga Technical Institute is privately owned and administered by Masaka Catholic Diocese. It started after the 1979 liberation war under the sponsorship of the KAB Degendorff in Germany. It is registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports, and also possesses a UNEB center Number (UT045).
The institute is well equipped with hand tools, portable power hand tools and all kinds of wood working machines as well as trained departmental teachers
The institute offers various courses under the following departments
Welding Department
Carpentry and Joinery Department
Building and Construction
Tailoring,Textile and Garment Cutting
Under carpentry and Joinery Department the institute trains both sexes in the above department. It admits students who completed s.4 and Uganda Junior Technical Certificate (U.J.T.C). They study craft part I and gets a craft part I certificate which is awarded by UNEB. they then study another one year and gets a certificate of craft part II Advanced which is also awards by UNEB.
After advanced level they join other institutions like universities in engineering i.e. Building and Civil engineering, Architectural engineering or they study a diploma in Technical teacher education.
At the institute, we train our students joinery work and carpentry work examples of joinery work include.
