Salaama Vocational Education Center was created to provide a meaningful vocational education for those who might otherwise not have that chance.
Salaama Vocational Education Center offers general education and life skills which were integrated into the curriculum development, and new learning and teaching strategies were at the center of its design development.
A special collaborative relationship guided the design of this school which held the promise of an enriched learning experience. All involved in the dream of this school. imagined a place where students would work together on issues of leadership, health promotion, interfaith tolerance and entrepreneurship while learning a vocation. Discussion with community members determined vocations to be taught at the school.
The school Motto is,”Building skills, character and community”.
Salaama Vocational Education Center has a Vision, To improve access to high quality tertiary education through education training programmes tailored to the needs of the region and the wider national community.
The school has a number of objectives to achieve like,
To enhance the lives of vulnerable youth and communities acquire the skills and competencies required to raise productivity, income generation and improve livelihoods.
To increase skills development among vulnerable youth and communities that will give them a competitive edge in the in the local and the global market.
To provide practical hands on, skilled technicians and workers who can drive the Ugandan economy and contribute significantly to the country’s 21st century objectives
To instill in the student and staff high standards of integrity, transparency and accountability during their studies at SVEC and after they graduate.
To ensure that gender sensitivity and equity is observed in the selection of both staff and students.
