Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development | NTISD is one of the oldest In-Service Training Institutes in Uganda. It was founded in 1952 and acquired full status in 1954 when it was referred to as “Local Government and Community Development Centre.’ It was among the first government Institutions established by the Colonial government administration to train lower cadres to replace the colonial administration. Others were Bukalasa, Arapai, Survey Training Institute Entebbe, and Kyambogo College.
Nsamizi Training Centre of Local Government and Community Development as it was known then, was established for the development of human resources in the field of Social Work/Social Development for national, districts, NGO’s, and private sector, management and grassroots services.
It offered a variety of courses including Law, Local and Urban Administration, Cooperatives and Community Development up to 1970.
The primary focus of the undergraduate education programmes is to raise the quality of social workers by giving them adequate social development skills that they can use to impact their societies and communities. At the moment the Institute offers one undergraduate programme which is B.A. Social Development; this undergraduate programme is a three (3) year course that gives the student full skills and knowledge that will bring a positive impact to the communities and societies.

The course duration for the Diploma courses is two (2) years.
