Kabale University is located on the famous Kikungiri Hill, about two kilometres off the Kabale-Kigali Highway, in Kabale Municipality in south-western Uganda. It is licensed by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education, and offers various undergraduate and postgraduate degree, diploma and certificate programmes. Students at Kabale University have access to a number of Scholarships including Work and Study programme, District Scholarships, Frank Kalimuzo Scholarship Fund, Girls Education Movement (GEM) Uganda, Mvule Trust, Madvani Foundation, French Government.
With support from external partners, Kabale University provides Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Kigezi Region. The University offers quality computer training to students, university staff and the surrounding community to equip them with appropriate ICT Skills. The University Mukombe Library plays the key role through the provision of high quality information resources and services to students, University staff, researchers and other Library patrons. The Library consists of Circulation section, open shelves, reserve section, ict section and reading space. Kabale University Clinic offers twenty-four-hour medical services to students. The medical services offered range from preventive to curative treatment for simple conditions that can be managed on outpatient basis. Complicated cases which require admission and intricate investigations are referred to Kigonzi Clinic, a modern health facility with adequate medical facilities and service providers.
Kabale University currently has the capacity to accommodate only two hundred students on campus (both males and females). The existing hostels are equipped and furnished with furniture (bare beds, chairs, reading desks) and curtains. The rest of the students are non-residents, living in off- campus, private commercial housing within Kabale Municipality, around Kabale Town and the neighboring villages.
