Jinja Vocational Training Institute | JVTI was built by the Uganda Government in collaboration with the World Bank under the 2nd IDA Education Project. It became operational in 1982 under the Ministry of Labour.
In 1999, the Institute was transferred together with other specialized Institutions to the Ministry of Education and Sports for easy management.
The Institute was established to train young men and women to attain knowledge and skills proficiency in the Craft Trades as follows:
Electrical Installation and fitting
Motor Vehicle Mechanics
Welding and Metal Fabrication
Metal Machining and Fitting
Block Laying and Concrete Practice
Plumbing and Pipe Fitting
Carpentry and Joinery.
