Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute is a training center for Diagnostic Ultrasound and other imaging modalities, located in Kampala (Uganda) specifically in Mengo Hospital, Albert Cook Building.
Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute is affiliated to Jefferson Ultrasound Research Education Institute (JUREI) of Thomas Jefferson University Philadelphia U.S.A and Fontys University of Applied Sciences Netherlands.
Curriculum: Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute Curriculum, teaching materials, students assessments including final examinations are jointly set by JUREI (Philadelphia USA), Fontys University (Netherlands) and Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute. Student certification is offered jointly and graduates receive internationally recognized Diplomas and Degrees. Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute also collaborates with local Health Institutions like KADIC Hospital and Kampala Imaging Centre (KIC), Rubaga and Mulago Hospitals where students do rotations.
Courses: Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute courses include Masters Degree in Medical Imaging, Masters in Diagnostic Ultrasound, Bachelors in Medical Imaging, Bachelors in Diagnostic Ultrasound, Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy, Diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound, Diploma in Medical Radiography, Diploma in Biomedical Engineering and a Diploma in X-Ray Film Pattern Recognition.
Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute was launched in July 2002 by His Excellency the President of Uganda, Mr. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. At Inception, Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute, focused mainly on Ultrasound, from which it derived its name, but with time, the institute realized the growing need for other health courses and broadening its training goals.
Vision: Ernest Cook Ultra Sound Research and Education Institute vision is to be the epitome of excellence in health training and research. Its mission is to improve the health of Ugandans through excellent training of health personnel.
Admission: All prospective students are required to fill in and submit an application form before they are admitted to the Institute. On presentation of their admission form at the start of the course all students are required to fill in a registration form provided by Institute to show that they have full filled all requirements for enrollment in the respective courses.
