The foundations of the present education system were laid by Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan III, who established over 200 schools during the 20th century. The first schools were established around 1905 in Zanzibar, Gwadar (Pakistan), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and Mundra (India). The School has two campuses; Makerere and Kololo.

The Aga Khan Schools strive to create a harmonious balance between academic demands, sporting and cultural activities and community life. It challenges its pupils to be intellectually inquisitive and socially conscious. The School believes that while what students know is important, the true measure of a student’s education is the ability to analyze what they do not know.

When considering placing a child, we mainly consider the date of birth (appropriate age of the child), the information provided by the parents on the child’s developmental history, school reports from the previous school where applicable, a readiness test for the children joining Reception or Pre-primary class and any other relevant information that has been provided.

The following procedures are to be followed when applying:
Step 1
To begin the application process, please pick and fill an application form from the Admissions Office. The form should be submitted along with the following documents:
A valid copy of birth certificate
A copy of immunization/vaccination card
2 recent passport photographs
A recent report card /or leaving certificate from the previous school for students applying to Reception class.

Entrance assessments are intended to detect the level of current development and achievement. For KG/NR 1, 2 & 3 admission is based on the appropriate age as per the class.
